Ramadan only enhances our journalism

Ramadan is a busy time for most people, with fasting, preparation for iftar, shuttling families to the mosque and giving back to those who need it most.
And in that spirit, journalists at TMJ News just got busier. We want to make the most of this month spiritually, focus on our families and produce quality content for our readers and viewers. Our shorts which we pivoted to did very well, as we had expected, and we are figuring out the best way to crank those out while still staying on schedule with everything else we had planned. We also welcomed two new interns onto our team who will be anchoring for the shorts at our studio here in Michigan.
And with more exciting news, TMJ was invited to partake in the Ramadan Suhoor Festival, one of the largest Muslim Ramadan festivals in America. In this month, we hope to make grassroots connections, give TMJ the exposure it deserves and expand our collective by recruiting talented youth in the community. Initially, TMJ News had always sought to tap into our marginalized communities where the skill sets already exist. We hope to hone in on the skills of talented future journalists one day at a time.
As a God-centric news outlet, this month is extremely special and important to us. There is so much to gain from every day, so much to refrain from and to tread carefully with. But this makes our work this month all the more valuable; our spirituality and our journalism go hand in hand, and we wouldn’t have it any other way.
Ramadan Kareem to the TMJ Wake-Up Family,
Your Editor,
