We don’t have to look far to see what’s in our backyards

Dearest Reader,
This week we’ve been extra busy painting and fixing up our new place. It’s less than two weeks till Moving Day and we don’t have a functional space to move into, so you can imagine the stress is quite high. We are also waiting on the certificate needed to put up the necessary wall that will divide our studio and the other space we are sharing the building with.
While all this is going on in the back end, we’ve been pumping out atleast 5 pieces of content daily. Our workflow has smoothened out quite a bit, with daily breaking news and short stories, anchored videos on wednesdays and fridays, news flash recaps on Sundays, and articles and reports going out every week. Not to mention our weekly episodes or news segments from our four shows.
The next step for us then is monetization; content is good but it is more sustainable if it can bring the company some sort of income. While money has never been our priority as TMJ News is not a profit driven model, staff need to be paid, rent needs to be paid, and we need to have funds in order to do anything let alone maintain our operations.
Interestingly, as I was drafting the messaging for our new fundraiser launching tomorrow, it takes a moment for pause when we realize that TMJ News is supported by its people and readers from day one. We don’t have corporations or advertisers backing our company, but people who care about the work we are doing on the daily. And that to us is something most precious.
We also have our exclusive writer Batool Subeiti who will be writing on Patreon for the $5 tier starting next month. Patrons will have exclusive access to her works as well as other perks. We hope this will not only sustain some of our work but also create a niche audience that is truly God centric.
As we look forward to moving into our new home, we are looking ahead to building our much needed newsroom and think tanks space where we will invite consultants to build on ideas with us. One of the news rooms that we have already initiated is an on field crew that will report on things happening in our own backyards. From oppression of the black communities, to sinister things taking place in public spaces (that we have received real life tips about) and investigating stories that often are swept under the rug, it’s exciting to know that not only do we have a swell 10 year plan, but one that will hopefully allow TMJ News to exist till the end of time.
Now those are big words. But nothing less for the TMJ dream team.
Your Editor,
Zainabrights
