As Things Get Crazier

Strategically, Muslims in the West are realizing that speaking about the war on Gaza is the most effective thing to do to change public opinion largely informed by one sided coverage. As things get crazier, and people continue to get arrested, doxxed, and face repercussions especially at the student and professional levels, creative measures are being taken to get their voices out. TMJ talked to young people on the ground in DC who covered their faces with masks and sent in written submissions so that we could hide their identities. This new wave of citizen journalism may be the only way to go, which is why it is critical to support it at the grassroots.

What’s Brewing?
In a powerful testimony, an American Nurse talked about her experience in Gaza for 26 days where she said she would go back to Gaza in a heartbeat. We wonder what she saw and witnessed, besides the trauma and carnage, that still pulled at her heartstrings? While she actually lived through the bombardment, Americans here at home have also been driven to participate in marches.

More than 300,000 people marched to the White House in what is being called a historic march for Palestine in the United States.
Uncensored street interviews reveal how people here are feeling at the grassroots. Angry Americans were spotted speaking out on TMJ Exclusive interviews against the government on Israel's war on Gaza. The pressure on the government continues to mount as people have been taking to the streets, boycotting, and phone banking with their representatives. It remains to be seen when exactly the will of the people will be actually be respected.

The Vatican Relaxes Rules for Transgender People

As if hanging pride flags on church buildings across the US wasn’t enough, the Vatican announced on Wednesday that transgender Catholics can also be baptized and serve as godparents. The document has been signed by Pope Francis himself, who has gone as far as suggesting that there could be ways to bless same-sex unions within Catholicism. While the Catholic Church still walks on eggshells when making statements on this topic, it’s inching closer and closer to fully normalizing the LGBT issue at a time when the Western political paradigm has done the same.

Longest-ever Hollywood Strike Ends

The Hollywood strikes are officially over. After 118 days of strikes and work stoppage due to disputes between actors and movie studios, a “tentative deal” of over $1 billion has been reached that features increases in wages and other financial guarantees. The Hollywood strikes caused major disruptions to the US film and television industry for the past several months — but it seems it may be bouncing back. The mayor of Los Angeles, Karen Bass said the deal would have a significant impact on the local economy.

Omegle Shuts Down after 14 Years

The infamous site that matched random strangers on camera and resulted in thousands of viral videos on social media has been shut down after reaching its “breaking point.” While it was created to foster social connection and communication, it ended up with claims of abuse and sexual predation. Omegle has been mentioned in more than 50 cases against pedophiles in the past few years. Leif Brooks, the company’s founder, admitted that many people misused the site “to commit unspeakably heinous crimes.”

Robot Kills Factory Worker

The apocalyptic horror scene we thought only existed in movies just came true. A South Korean robot crushed a factory worker to death after confusing him with a box of produce. The robot was meant to lift boxes at a pepper sorting plant, but somehow mistook the worker for a box of vegetables and pushed him into the conveyor belt. The man’s face and chest were crushed, and he died after being transferred to the hospital. But perhaps the real question is, who is responsible for his death now in the court of law?
