America Seeks to Deter Iran Strike while Backing Israel

The US is seeking to deter Iran from carrying out a retaliatory strike against Israel for its bombing of the Iranian consulate in Damascus last week, all while it continues to fund Israel’s attacks in the region. US officials believe a direct Iranian missile or drone strike is possible within the next few days. As Israel remains on high alert for a potential hit, the US is attempting to play it safe on both sides, knowing well that a regional war would be just as much of a devastation for America as it would be for Israel.

US Inflation Ticks Back Up Again

For the third month in a row, inflation has risen as the March consumer price index (CPI) revealed a 3.5% rise in prices, exceeding economists’ predictions. This complicates the picture for the Federal Reserve, which has been monitoring inflation levels to determine whether interest rates can be cut. It also complicates things for Biden’s re-election bid, as Americans hold him responsible for failing to address a volatile economy and ever-increasing costs of living.

Apple is the Latest Culprit for “Anti-Semitism”

Apple came under fire this week after Jewish TV presenter Rachel Riley called attention to a Palestine flag emoji being suggested when users type “Jerusalem” on their iPhone keyboards. Riley pointed out that national flags were not suggested for other cities, and equated Apple's “double standard” with anti-semitism. Apple responded by saying the change was not intentional, and that it would be reversed with a future software update.

The Pentagon: “No Evidence of Genocide in Gaza”

US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin said on Tuesday that the US has no evidence that Israel is committing genocide in Gaza. The Pentagon chief added that America remains committed to supporting Israel in “defending its territory and people.” This comes after last week’s White House decision to provide thousands more bombs to Israel, replenishing their stockpiles depleted by the regime's six-month bombardment of Gaza.
