Muslim Brew - 15th December

Fuel to the Fire of Fury

As the end of the year soon approaches, we continue to stand in a dark period of our time. There is nothing to wrap up, and even the wins to celebrate seem meaningless. And while the future remains bleak, and moral, spiritual and socio-political degradation seem to be at an incline, there is no greater fuel to the fire of fury for the God conscious than to keep “standing” in their active Moqawama, or resistance, in whatever form it may be.

What’s Brewing?

Trouble in paradise? Not that it was ever paradise, of course, but there’s a growing polarization within the United States cabinet that we simply can’t ignore anymore. As impeachment process has been called for by the House for the President Joe Biden, and his son’s tax evasion schemes are putting his father’s career in great peril, mainstream media seems hellbent on covering their eyes on the list of his endless crimes. Unfortunately for them, people are not buying it

What’s more, staffers within Biden’s own administration are walking out on him and demanding a ceasefire. That has to hurt. But what will Biden do with this mounting pressure? We know that the National Security Adviser has been sent to Israel to tell Israeli officials to soften their approach and switch to a more targeted approach to which they obviously refused. And that they recently admitted to the use of dumb bombs, aka indiscriminate bombing by the Israeli regime to increase civilian casualties as a means of weaponization, the same weapons that America has been endlessly sending. And while we know that there is a propaganda campaign to depict a developing rift between hardcore Zionist Biden and far-right Prime Minister Netanyahu to appease the masses, Israel does seem to be on its last legs regardless. It has been and will continue to jeopardize Western interests in the region. We all know that this cannot go on forever, and that the pressure among Israelis and Americans will come to a boiling pot as the masses continue to witness devastating realities on ground in Gaza. What will be the outcome of such an eruption, only time will tell.

UN General Assembly Votes for Ceasefire in Gaza

The United Nations have finally spoken to demand an immediate humanitarian ceasefire in Gaza and to end the ongoing war on Palestine. The overwhelming vote in the 193-member world body resulted in 153 in favor, 10 against, and 23 abstentions. But more than anything else, it revealed the growing isolation of the US and Israel before the nations of the world and their people, who have been witnesses to the Israeli occupation’s war crimes for the past seven decades – and the unwavering American support to back them time and time again.

Economy

Gaza’s Economy is at a Standstill

Gaza is now operating at only 16 percent of its productive capacity and has plunged into a deep recession with skyrocketing poverty and inflation. The past two months of devastation unfolding in Gaza has left about 85 percent of workers without jobs, according to a World Bank report. While international accounts previously identified that residents of the Gaza Strip have been suffering from multidimensional poverty for decades now, the current ongoing war has left Palestinians in an unparalleled economic and humanitarian crisis – a nightmare they cannot wake up from.

Remote-piloted Cargo Plane Takes Flight

The first-ever uncrewed flight of a Cessna 208B Caravan was announced this week, and it might have marked a new era of air cargo delivery. Reliable Robotics, which specializes in aircraft automaton systems, implemented a remote operation design that uses advanced navigation technology to control the aircraft by a pilot stationed 50 miles away. The 12-minute test flight included taxi, takeoff, and landing without any direct human intervention. While this is great news for cargo transportation and even military use, only time can tell just how reliable it will prove to be.

Zara’s Public Statement Means Boycotts Work

The #BoycottZara hashtag went viral after Zara’s latest advertising campaign featured disturbingly similar scenes to the images coming out from Gaza: human figures that were missing limbs and statues wrapped in white shrouds. After the intense backlash and international calls for boycott, Zara removed the campaign and issued a public statement saying it regretted the “misunderstanding.”  But the damage had already been done. As the boycott list for companies supporting the Israeli occupation grows by the day, Zara happens to be the latest one to realize that its insensitivity and ignorance could cost it fortunes.

What Else is Brewing?

  • Palestinian prisoners are integral to the war, so much so that they are one of the key objectives for the Palestinian Resistance. See why

  • Yemen Armed Forces and the Israeli Regime seem to be going head to head in this fast developing war. Yemen keeps slapping them with seizures of ships going towards Israel, and Israel sends its 4th warship into the Red Sea. Yemen, however, says the warship is as good as a “sitting duck."

  • Lebanon’s villages such as Yaroun and Aitaroun are being hit with Israeli airstrikes as they continue to resist at the border. Not widely spoken about, Lebanon is one of the key places embroiled in this latest war.

  • Police in the USA and Canada land seem to be wreaking havoc at peaceful Palestinian rallies. In fact, one of the officers was seen with his knee to a protester’s neck. Wonder where they learned that from?

  • The people are not their government; Sara Ibrahim makes a case that the Ummah is really coming together for Palestine. What does this mean and how will it affect the way forward?

What to Look Out For

TMJ’s report on Palestine drops tomorrow (Saturday) posting daily on the roots, history, misconceptions and understanding the last few years as well. Read it and you’ll be one of the more knowledgeable people on this topic.

Mohamad’s new show ‘That’s Messed Up’ is dropping next week! For those who are sick of everything that’s messed up in our world today, this show may provide comic relief. Or it may induce anxiety.

Batool Subeiti, TMJ’s talented geopolitical analyst, will break down why the US-Israel relationship is not as it seems; what is being shown to the public is very different from the realities on ground.

This week will end with a bang as Sayyeda explores why faith is so integral to this resistance and why so many around the world are flocking to Islam.

Can you solve this?

“What can you put in a bucket to make it weigh less?”Reply with your guess. P.S: The answer to the last week’s riddle is ‘bookkeeper’. Had you guessed it right?

Jummah Inspo

O believers! Stand firm for justice as witnesses for Allah even if it is against yourselves, your parents, or close relatives. Be they rich or poor, Allah is best to ensure their interests. So do not let your desires cause you to deviate ˹from justice˺.
