Hope at the Cusp of War

There’s a lot wrong with everything going on today, but the victims of this genocide still remain hopeful and positive. Through them, people around the world are flocking to faith and awakening to a new reality. What will this new world, where people are connecting over a cause that is so great, look like? As we ask these questions, we are ignited with a sense of hope at the cusp of a greater war.

What’s Brewing?

Troops in Yemen’s Armed Forces are mobilizing in the North to fight in Gaza as well as moving towards the Red Sea to confront the US-led naval coalition. In other words, things are getting real. Tens of thousands of Yemenis have volunteered to fight in the war. The crazier part is when they asked Ansarallah’s leader Sayed Houthi on his thoughts, he said there is no greater desire than for the Ansarallah to battle directly with the USA and Israel rather than fight with their proxies. The issue of Yemen goes back to March 2015 when the US-backed Saudi coalition waged war on the people of Yemen, imposed a blockade, killed hundreds of thousands and starved the country literally to death. At the time, there was little to no coverage on the world’s worst humanitarian crisis, and what was a poor, down-trodden country seemed to be on its last legs. Despite all that hardship, not only did Yemen survive this aggression, it is now one of the only nations militarily assisting Palestine, waging a maritime war and causing a financial loss in the millions for the Israeli regime and giant shipping companies. They’re downing multi-billion dollar assets with $25,000 drones and rockets and causing a strain to the United States. Regardless of what side one is on and what they have made of the situation, Yemen’s strong support of Occupied Palestine shows that even the underdog of underdogs can stand up to the big dog. What’s more, being through what they did including starvation and blockade, they are probably the only ones who can truly empathize with the Palestinians.

The Vatican Approves Blessings for Same-sex Couples

Pope Francis was already dancing around easing Catholicism's strict views on homosexuality, but now he’s made it official. In a landmark ruling on Monday, the Vatican allowed Roman Catholic priests to administer blessings to same-sex couples on a case-by-case basis – as long as they are not part of Church rituals or in contexts related to civil unions or weddings. So what exactly are the priests blessing? According to the Vatican, “a blessing offers people a means to increase their trust in God.” This latest development marks a radical shift from the Vatican’s position in 2021, which held that “God cannot bless sin.” While we’re not sure what the Catholic Church really believes, we do hope they figure it out soon.

Myanmar Becomes the World’s Top Opium Producer

Myanmar has officially overtaken Afghanistan as the world’s biggest opium producer in 2023. The shift came after the Taliban government cracked down on illegal drug production by enacting a ban on poppy cultivation last year. Myanmar, on the other hand, produced about 1,080 tons of opium this year as the total estimated value of its “opiate economy” rose to between $1 billion and $2.4 billion, which makes up 1.7 to 4.1 percent of the nation’s 2022 GDP. The “Golden Triangle” region between Myanmar, Laos, and Thailand has long been a hotbed of illegal drug trafficking, specifically with opium and methamphetamine.

“Just Walk Out” Technology Eliminates Self-checkouts

Talk about instant gratification. Major retailers are currently testing out a new technology that allows shoppers to simply walk out with their products and avoid checkouts. This is achieved by radio frequency identification (RFID), which uses radio waves to identify and track objects through a small electronic device attached to store products. Customers would be able to pay for purchases immediately – with their credit cards being charged automatically. Retailers such as Walmart, Amazon, and Uniqlo are now testing out RFID, which may just be the next innovation that tempts shoppers to spend more money in less time.

What You Need to Know

Biden’s Approval Rating Hits All-time Low

While it’s no secret that US President Joe Biden has lost a great deal of popularity since taking office, now his approval rating has plunged to an all-time low. Just 34 percent of respondents said in a new poll that they approve of his performance at the White House, while 61 percent said they were very dissatisfied. The remaining five percent were unsure. The main areas of concern were Biden’s approach to tackling illegal immigration, taming inflation, and facilitating job creation. The poll’s results come at a time when Biden is falling behind former President Donald Trump in his bid to win reelection in 2024 – and it’s not looking good for him at all.

What Else is Brewing?

  • The matter of Palestinian Prisoners in this war is so critical that the Israeli minister of Heritage Amichai Eliyahu recently called for their execution in order to prevent their release in any future negotiations with the Palestinian Resistance. But why?

  • 300 lawyers mobilize to prosecute Israel for its war crimes, spearheaded by French veteran lawyer Maitre Gilles Defer (Devers).

  • The curious case of Jeffrey Epstein is back on the table; they truly won’t live this one down. 170 names of Epstein’s associates will be made public next year. Is that why they say don’t befriend a bad apple?

  • The cookies are crumbling as they may; Ukrainian mercenaries seem to be fighting for the Israeli Occupation Forces.

  • Yemen’s Armed Forces have tanked Israeli port action; business is down 85% and giant shipping companies such as Evergreen ceased to accept Israeli cargo.

  • Pakistan’s former Prime Minister Imran Khan expresses solidarity for Palestine behind bars. Local sources report an active suppression of rallies in support of Imran Khan.

  • How do they get away with these things, is a question most of us are asking. From an IDF soldier who openly laughs with glee on killing two Palestinians while smacking on her gum, to the Israeli Minister for the Advancement of the Status of Women callously saying “I want to see dead bodies everywhere,” and the head of the ‘Israeli Settler Movement’ Daniella Weiss expressing a desire to see all Gazans dead, shouldn’t these people be investigated for admitting to murder?

Can you solve this?

When death approaches any of them, they cry, “My Lord! Let me go back, so I may do good in what I left behind.” Never! It is only a ˹useless˺ appeal they make. And there is a barrier behind themis now until the Day they are resurrected..
