Freedom comes at a price

What’s Brewing?

Candace Owens was treading a dangerous line, which left many of us guessing where her true intentions lay. Was this a ploy to distract the masses or did she genuinely care about the truth? Today, Daily Wire canceled Candace Owens’ contract. Daily Wire CEO Jeremy Boreing wrote in a post on X (formerly Twitter) but didn't elaborate on the circumstances behind the move. Wonder why? Owens has been questioning the Israeli genocide on Gaza and featured a variety of voices including Norman Finkelstein that basically crushed the dominating mainstream media narrative. She also said on X that “no government anywhere has a right to commit a genocide, ever. There is no justification for a genocide.” Owens confirmed the cancellation saying that “The rumors are true — I am finally free.” Freedom always comes at a price, and maybe now she can truly be independent in her journalism.

Yemen’s Houthis Strike Israel for the First Time

The Houthis of Yemen penetrated Israel’s defense system with a cruise missile that landed north of Eilat from the direction of the Red Sea, the IDF admitted on Tuesday. This marks the first time the Houthis have directly hit Israeli territory. The strike did not cause any damages or injuries, but raised serious questions about how Israel’s missile defense system failed at intercepting it. The Houthis have also vowed to disrupt commercial shipping in the Red Sea until Israel ceases its war against the Palestinians.

Immigration to Boost US Economic Growth

The US economy will grow faster than expected this year as increased immigration adds more workers to the labor force. In a new report published on Sunday, Goldman Sachs cited increased immigration when raising its forecast for economic growth. The company says this helps explain the surprise job creation in the labor market over the last year, as well as the higher-than-expected growth seen across the economy.

The Biden Administration Sues Apple

The US Department of Justice filed a lawsuit against tech giant Apple on Thursday for using “broad-based, exclusionary conduct” to make it hard for Americans to switch smartphones and for companies to provide applications and services to iPhone users. The lawsuit claims that Apple is implementing monopolistic practices by making its products largely inaccessible to competitors. This move comes just weeks after the EU fined Apple $2 billion for breaking its competition laws.

America Tumbles in World Happiness Ratings

The US dropped in rank from the 15th to the 23rd happiest country in the world, based on the World Happiness Report released on Wednesday. Even more concerning was the fact that it ranked 62nd for the views of people under 30 years old. Researchers have attributed this to mounting gloominess among younger Americans, especially after the COVID-19 pandemic. Finland, Denmark, and Iceland made the top three on the list.
