All Eyes on America

What happened on October 7 undoubtedly changed the world, even for those of us living under a rock (or at least trying to). Time cannot be reversed and things seem to be moving at an accelerated speed. In other words, there's no going back. It remains to be seen what role America will play in all this, more than it already has, and how much the government will prioritize its own citizens over a foreign interest that, let's face, is becoming a liability.

What’s Brewing?
What's interesting is that this year, unlike most other years, has brought about a significant change within the American populace. More and more people are taking to activism, or partaking in student-led movements on campuses despite loss of careers, opportunities and risking their futures. It may be due to the fact that no one can really ignore the situation, even if they try their best to, knowing full well that America is fully behind the indiscriminate killing of an occupied people. The death toll has exceeded over 10k, with half of them being children. No matter what side people have been on the issue, the numbers reveal everything. And to be fair, they always have. In a graphic we created, we show the difference in death toll leading up to October 7. This has been happening for a long time, and the operation just brought things back on the table again. As a large protest is said to take place in Washington DC tomorrow, many are left wondering if their efforts will fall on deaf ears, or will it truly change the course of human history going forward.

Putin revokes ratification of nuclear test ban treaty

Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a bill that revoked Russia’s ratification of the Comprehensive Nuclear Test Ban Treaty, drawing heavy criticism from the US and Europe. The 1996 treaty bans all nuclear explosions, including live nuclear weapons tests, but it has not come into effect because several key nations, including the US, never ratified it. Putin said his move was designed to bring Moscow in line with the US, which naturally angered the globocops of the Western world.

US companies trap workers in poverty

Low wages have kept thousands of US workers in poverty, forcing them to rely on government assistance programs for survival. The UN special rapporteur on extreme poverty and human rights called on the CEOs of Amazon, Walmart, and DoorDash on Tuesday to address allegations that they have trapped workers in poverty through inadequate pay, aggressive union-busting tactics, and intentional deprivation of employment benefits. The move also calls for accountability from the US government for turning a blind eye to companies’ union-busting activities that further fuel control over workers and their ability to demand higher wages.

Indian schoolboy invents the smart spoon

Aarrav Anil, a 17-year-old boy from south India, took robotics to the next level by creating a smart spoon that uses sensors to cancel out hand tremors. His motivation came from witnessing his uncle, who suffers from Parkinson’s disease, struggle to eat on his own. That’s when Anil decided to take matters into his own hands (no pun intended). What ensued was hours upon hours locked in his room with microcontrollers, sensors, motors, and a 3D printer. The resulting smart spoon prototype is now undergoing trials at the RV College of Physiotherapy in Bengaluru, with great hopes that it may become the latest innovation many are desperately waiting for.

Biden might get impeached

The Republicans will be deciding “very soon” on whether the impeachment inquiry into President Joe Biden will be pushed forward. House Speaker Mike Johnson said on Thursday that House Republicans are coming to a decision about impeaching the president over allegations of corruption surrounding himself and his family, particularly his son Hunter Biden. Republicans have been making the case that President Biden benefitted from his son’s business dealings by taking advantage of his roles in the government. It remains to be seen whether a potential impeachment will take him out before his cognitive failures do.
