If the war were to widen...

What’s Brewing?

After senior Palestinian leader was killed in Beirut, Lebanon by an Israeli strike in a civilian area, Yemen boats were downed by US airstrikes and twin terror attacks claimed by ISIS left more than 103 killed in Kerman, Iran, the world has been on edge. There are talks of a widening of the war into the region, as such moves indicate Israel baiting the Resistance fronts into a larger war. However, other markers say otherwise. Shortly after striking Yemen’s boats and killing 10 Yemeni servicemen, American warships such as the USS Gerald Ford were called back from the seas.

The US Congress has also been embroiled in battles of their own, as they claim funding for Ukraine has dried out. And in line with what Israeli leadership had said at the beginning, that they would not end the war until military victories are achieved, these moves seem to be the so-called “military victories” that they said would be needed to end the war. This also means that the goals the Israeli Regime set out to achieve, they haven’t been able to, and thus had to assassinate key figures from various Resistance fronts to save face. And while this analysis point seems to be starkly different from every other narrative of a widening war, it is an observation made connecting various pieces of the puzzle. In other words, it is just not a good time for the US to be part of another war when it can barely manage the one in Ukraine, and Israel cannot breathe without the American oxygen. If the war were to widen, let’s just say, it would be the end of Biden. What a rhyme.

Tehran Vows Revenge over ISIS-Claimed Attack

Two explosions in Kerman, Iran killed nearly 100 people on Wednesday at a memorial for top commander General Qassem Soleimani, who was assassinated by a US drone strike in 2020. On Thursday, ISIS claimed responsibility for the terrorist attack, and the US State Department made sure to immediately clarify that neither the US nor Israel were involved. As Iran vows a strong retaliation” to the attack, escalating violence in the region has led to heightened global concerns that the war could soon expand as neighboring nations come into the picture.

Economy

The Pentagon is Out of Money for Ukraine

“We’re out of money.” These are the words Pentagon spokesperson Major General Patrick Ryder said at a Thursday briefing. The US has exhausted its funds for military assistance to Ukraine unless lawmakers pass a new aid package. While the Pentagon is theoretically authorized to spend another $4.2 billion on Ukraine, the actual funds are not available and must be set aside by Congress, which has remained deadlocked for weeks amid Republican opposition to additional aid funds. Meanwhile, Ukraine says it has no “plan B” without continued US aid.

Tech

Chinese Car Giant Surpasses Tesla Again

While he laughed off BYD in 2011, Elon Musk did not anticipate the Chinese car company to beat Tesla at selling electric cars. BYD produced more than 3 million new energy vehicles in 2023, surpassing Tesla’s production for a second year straight. Most BYD cars sell in a lower price range than Tesla, and the company has aggressive growth plans in Europe for the upcoming years. This is not good news for Tesla, which now faces a major competitor while also experiencing slumped demand in its home market.

Another Biden Official Resigns over Israeli Atrocities

It’s getting much more common than we think. A senior official at the US Department of Education resigned on Wednesday in protest of President Biden’s support for the Israeli occupation. Policy advisor Tariq Habash said the administration has turned a blind eye to the unfolding atrocities against Palestinians, in what human rights experts have called a “genocidal campaign by the Israeli government.” Habash added that he cannot stay silent any longer — a realization that is growing not just among the public, but also within the US government.
