Unmasking the Project: Gaza, Greater Israel, and the Complicity of Silence

Not long after Israel waged its genocidal war on Gaza, it became clear that theevents of October 7 were merely a pretext for the occupation to fulfill the dream of Greater Israel—a long-standing Zionist vision that stretches beyond the borders of 1948, imagining a state from the Nile to the Euphrates. What is unfolding in Gaza is not just a war against Hamas, and continuing to label the mass murders, displacement, and forced starvation of the Palestinians in Gaza as “Israel’s right to defend itself” comes in line with the genocidal, expansionist Zionist narrative. The ongoing Israeli war on Gaza is part of a strategic design of territorial expansion, achieved by systematically removing indigenous populations, and this did not start on the 7th of October 2023.

Across the past couple of years alone, Israel had significantly escalated the ethnic cleansing of Al-Quds; most notably were the events of Sheikh Jarrah. The encroaching of settlements in the West Bank, along with raids and full-blown attacks against the Palestinian camps of the West Bank had also significantly escalated. By breaching the ceasefire multiple times and reigniting the war, it is now long evident that the occupation regime pays no regard to the Zionist prisoners of war captured by Hamas, and the war was not waged against Gaza to “return them home.” These events, accompanied by the suffocating siege that was imposed on Gaza pre-October-7, and the determination to forcefully displace the Palestinians in Gaza today, perfectly fit a pattern that speaks not of defense, but of expansion and colonization.
