We'd like to give you a warm welcome to TMJ News' first Wake-Up Newsletter! And what a warm welcome it is; with a cup of coffee in hand and a weekly rundown of the news.

While we launched in early April last year, the growth this past year has been tremendous and we cannot express our gratitude enough. Over the last few months, we’ve been working diligently at TMJ News to ensure our lineup of stories is timely, accurate and trustworthy.

Most people started out this year with new resolutions. Similarly, our goal as journalists is to improve on what we are already good at. We’ve made a conscious effort to utilize high-quality equipment and technology and maintain ethical as well as journalistic standards in our reporting. From ensuring every avenue is in line with our branding, and watching our feeds whilst still not shying away from reporting untold stories, quality matters to us in all that we promise to deliver.

TMJ News is committed to defying not just the odds, but everything that comes with it, from corporate interests to advertisements and anything that has strings attached, which means we are entirely reader funded and supported. It is intended to be an alternative to mainstream voices where we aim to create a space where the truth can rest easy just as it is.

The success of our work in this short time has exceeded all of our expectations, and we hope to keep growing from here on out. With the addition of our talented journalist all the way from Paris into our collective, as well as seeing how our shows have attracted a wide variety of audiences and views, it is exciting to watch TMJ News climb toward its full potential.

We however still want to be careful of the echo chamber effect, and this year our two focus areas will be to reach new audiences and cover a wide variety of topics while staying true to who we are; an independent American media outlet that covers world issues through a God-centric lens as well to grow our collective of citizen journalists from around the world.

TMJ News Network (The Muslim Journalists) is an independent media outlet. We started as a story of two visibly Muslim women & journalists, Zainab Rights and Fatima El-Zein who just wanted a space in the media to tell the stories of their community. We are a nonprofit and depend on your financial support to maintain our media organization’s growing needs and compensate our writers and producers who create the news content you’ll see in the round-up below.

We balance hard news with human interest stories through a network of storytellers representing the voices of marginalized communities and unheard stories.
